Thanks for the Love
Dear Editor: Don and Rose would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to Kirby’s memorial. Never are we more aware of how much friends mean than at the time of bereavement. Kirby touched many people in his lifetime and it showed by those who attended. We would especially like to thank R.W. Caldwell for their donation to rent the hall. To Mayor Yakes and those who spoke and shared a memory of Kirby. To 6 year old Shane Schippers who paid tribute by saying a prayer to his peepaw. To Joe Guenther from O’Maddy’s for all his help with the food and music. To all of those who stayed to clean up and to Rand, Ryland, Heidi & Tammy for all your support, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for the love we all have for Kirby.

A Player Responds to Review
Dear Editor: Thank you for your review of the Gulfport Community Players’ One Act Festival in the July 15, 2010 issue of the Gabber by Cathy Salustri.
While her comments were mostly complimentary, they were a bit one sided. She could have come back stage and talked with everyone - instead of being selective with her commentary. There are a couple of plays with good writing and good acting which didn’t even warrant a mention. Maybe they aren’t to her taste, but they should be put out there for people to decide for themselves. Everyone concerned, writers, actors, back-stage workers have worked very hard to be as “professional” as their ability will allow. Considering the length of her article every play could have at least been mentioned.
I happen to be in the last play, “Roomies,” written by Olga Kruse. It was not an easy play to learn as the two main characters have some memory loss -- maybe she didn’t like it -- but we put the work in, and I think we deserved a mention.
Thank you for all you do.

Thanks for the Help
Dear Editor: Allow me to express my thanks to Clay Lott at the Gulfport Utilities Department for promptly responding to my request to repair my driveway and curb. And to Eric and the mechanics at the Gulfport Garage for getting my car in shape. Good job, guys! Thanks for your great service.
What a great town we live in!
