Excerpts heard at the July 20, 2010 Gulfport City Council meeting

“For each additional person assigned to a nurse, the risk of death goes up seven percent.”
- Gwen Collins, a nurse who in favor of the Florida Hospital Patient Protection Act. This act will, among other things, limit the number of patients a nurse can care for at one time. Ms. Collins asked the city to pass a resolution urging the legislature to pass the bill, known as House Bill 1238 and Senate 2316.

“She was just standing in our flower garden and collapsed...Why do they (Southwest Florida Water Management District) try and teach kids about runoff and then do nothing?”
