Ad Hoc Housing Team – Tampa Bay

July 25, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

An initial meeting of an Ad Hoc Housing Team will be held a 7 pm, in the Music Suite provided by King of Peace MCC church, 3150 5th Ave North, St. Petersburg,to discuss the housing needs of the GLBTQ+ elderly and disabled, and to formulate plans for meeting those needs. The meeting is being facilitated by Robert Pope, a longtime activist, who was just honored as a Grand Marshall for the St. Pete Pride Parade 2018, for his 50 years of leadership in the GLBTQ+ community. “I appreciate the honor of recognizing my activities of the past {founder of Metro Wellness Center, President of Tampa Bay Arts, founding member of the Gay Hot Line, and his involvement in King of Peace since 1984} but there are many needs that require future action, and one of them is housing for our older community members. I look forward to joining together with folks with many skills, who will look at this problem, make plans on how to solve it, and then achieving that goal of providing safe, comfortable and affordable housing for those less fortunate.” Pope said. So, if you are an architect, a doctor, a nurse, a social worker, a zoning expert, a corporate attorney, a grant writer, or a fundraising enthusiast, your skills are needed. Plenty of free parking in the rear of the church. All are welcome to attend.
