Lecture, Lunch and Historic Site Tour: “Prehistoric People of Tampa Bay: Meet the Tocobaga”
Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9AM -2PM
9AM: Artists Hermann Trappman and Elizabeth Neily, long-time students of learning about Florida’s first people will unveil the story of the Tocobaga Indians who lived on the Mounds along current-day Park St. in the Jungle area of St. Pete.
At 10AM Paleontologist Robert Sinibaldi,PhD author of What Your Fossils Can Tell You, will present slides and lecture on “Ancient Fisherman” and how the Tocobaga’s fishing methods compares to those of fishermen today.
12: Lunch provided included some of the foods that the Tocobaga would have eaten.
1PM: Tour of the Narvaez/Anderson site, one of the last and best preserved Tocobaga Indian Mounds in Pinellas County.
$25 donation to Sacred Lands Preservation and Education, Inc. a 501 C3 nonprofit that has taken on the task of helping preserve this historic archaelogical site.
