Reeling in Stigma

October 12 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Free - $75

: On Saturday, October 12, Love IV Lawrence is hosting “Reeling in Stigma” – a night of conversation and education about mental health. The two-part event combines crowdsourced grantmaking and a film festival tour show to inspire attendees and facilitate change.

The VIP cocktail party asks guests to select a favorite nonprofit that’s changing the conversation around mental health. All five nonprofits will receive $2,000 for participating, and the winning nonprofit will receive an additional $8,000 prize.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., Mountainfilm on Tour will show a variety of short films curated from its annual festival in Telluride, Colorado. One featured film is documentary “Akuna Hikes,” which documents Will “Akuna” Robinson’s journey to healing and hiking after experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after serving in the U.S. Army during the Iraq War in 2003.

WHEN: Saturday, October 12
5:30-7:30 p.m.: “Making Waves” pitch party ($75 per person, includes admission for both events)
