New Twin Brooks with a Space For Kids

Despite the threat of rain, the Twin Brooks Golf Course Opening Ceremony proceeded as planned on Saturday, November 21, with Mayor Rick Kriseman and other dignitaries in attendance for the ribbon-cutting. The six-month revitalization of the space, located at 3901 30th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg, included converting the 18-hole course to a nine-hole course with three practice holes and a more open practice facility.

The ceremony also celebrated The First Tee of St. Petersburg youth development program at Twin Brooks, which, despite some delays, will include a mentoring center for the program that is expected to be completed next year.

Jwan Brown, a participant in The First Tee program, says, “It helps a lot to be outside. Some people think golf is not that hard but you have to use your mind. It’s very mathematical.”

Malachi McCloud, who is also in the program, says, “Golf isn’t like any other sport. And with golf you always get the ball.”
