The Grand Central District Association chose not to have an Oktoberfest last year and this year’s celebration marked a change in the way the district celebrated Oktoberfest. Instead of closing the streets for a district-wide party, the Association chose to confine the festivities to two vacant lots owned by Tunity Properties, who allowed the district to use their facilities and properties at no cost.
Oktoberfest Returns to Grand Central
After a year’s hiatus, the Grand Central District resumed its annual celebration of beer and October-related fun with a retooled Oktoberfest celebration. The celebration, held on September 20 at the intersection of 28th and Central Avenues, started at 1 p.m. and ran well into the evening with live music, authentic German food from the German-American Society, and, of course, beer.
