Those were Maddy Guenther’s words after she and her husband Joe tallied the money collected at their restaurant’s 25th anniversary party Saturday, November 15. The couple, who met when Guenther owned a bar in Gainesville, celebrated the 25th anniversary of O’Maddy’s by holding a fundraiser for the MY Foundation.
MY Foundation, named for former mayor Michael Yakes, helps Gulfport’s needy kids and seniors. The Guenthers planned a daylong event that included a fashion show, live music, a Taste of Gulfport food alley, silent auction and a street party. They said they hoped to raise $10,000 at the event, all of which would go to MY Foundation.
Monday morning they realized they had met their goal.
“Everyone was so awesome,” said Joe Guenther, “and so giving.”
