With Gulfport City Council elections this coming Tuesday, March 9, most candidates have amassed a tidy sum of donations from individuals as well as businesses. Although the final contribution reports aren’t due until tonight at midnight, The Gabber Newspaper collected some highlights of who’s getting campaign money from who—and where.
Below, find some of the more interesting facts and figures about each candidate’s campaign.
Important Note: Candidates have filed reports through March 12, 2010 ONLY. They must submit their final reports by tonight at midnight. The Gabber will update these figures by Monday, March 8, with the final monies collected and most recent contributions of note. Stanley Solomons
Campaign Manager: None listed
Campaign Treasurer: William Ward
Contributions of Note:
Stonewall Pinellas, $250
Suncoast Police Benevolent Association, $500
Solomons collected $2905 from individuals living outside of Gulfport, not counting the two donations listed above. He received three separate contributions from Gulfport residents. These three contributions totaled $170. Aside from a 23-cent credit to his campiagns’ PayPal account, these monies comprise the total contributions to his campaign.
David Steinke
Campaign Manager: Greg Stemm, $300 fee
Campaign Treasurer: Courtland Yarborough
Contributions of Note:
Al and Cindy Davis, $300
Mike and Judy Baggs, $100
Steinke collected $500 from one out-of-state donor (Byron Gilchrist), one business listed as an individual (Grand Ideas, Inc., $100), and four businesses, including $400 from Mariner’s Cove Marina, a primary source of his income. He also donated $400 to his own campaign and loaned his campaign $100. Four of his contributors (businesses and individuals) are in St. Petersburg.

Campaign Treasurer: Rhonda Levine
Contributions of Note:
Cathy Kaiser, $50
Barbieri loaned $795 and donated $20 to her campaign. She received no contributions from outside Gulfport, businesses, or over $100.
David Hastings
Campaign Manager: Bradley Rogers, $2850 fee, $67.50 expenses
Campaign Treasurer: Gina Burke-Garrett

Hastings received contributions from eight businesses and loaned his campaign $1200. He also received two contributions from St. Petersburg residents.
