Boating Exposure

April 27, 2016 by Helen J. Simon

fun dayRay Luce of Gulfport, right, in a yellow t-shirt and white hat, helps members of the public board the Robbie Lee for a spin in Boca Ciega Bay during the Boca Ciega Yatch Club’s open house on Saturday April 23.

“I just love exposing folks to boats,” said Luce, who has been on the water from a young age. Club members provided free rides starting from different docks on sailboats ranging from 22 to 37 feet. “It’s a well-choreographed dance,” Luce said as various vessels wove their way in and out of the harbor.

The rides were the highlight of the event, which also featured free hot dogs and beverages, tours, door prizes, face painting and information on sailing activities.
