Little League is back in action in Gulfport and has joined forces with two other leagues this season to ensure success.
According to Nicole Latranga, Gulfport Little League began on March 5 and is working in conjecture with Southwest Little League and Bay Pointe Little League.
“We are interlocked with Southwest and Bay Pointe, but we are working on a merger,” Latranga said.
According to Latranga, working together with the other leagues provides more players and more places to play, but still allows Gulfport’s league to maintain their own charter and board. If the leagues merge, there will be a single league charter and board for all three entities.
Latranga said that each league is facing difficulties, so working together benefits all three of them.
“It’s working out well,” Latranga said.
Of the 200 total players in the three leagues, “less than 50” signed up from Gulfport, but players can still sign up to join a team. Registration fees are $100 for Gulfport residents. Contact 727-415-0539 for more information.
