ON APRIL 1-2 in ST PETERSBURG, FLORIDA, the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, will convene its national conference “White Solidarity with Black Power” to mobilize white support for black self-determination. The conference will feature keynote speaker Omali Yeshitela, the Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party, addressing the hysteria surrounding the Trump presidency, uprooting the economic basis of racism, the crisis of the U.S. social system and the way forward through justice and liberation for African and oppressed peoples.
Penny Hess, the Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee, will speak on the role and responsibility of white people to join the struggle for Black Liberation. Workshop topics will include the campaign for reparations to African people; how sectors of the white population oppressed in American society including workers, LGBT, disabled and women, need to support Black Power; building resistance from the white community against police murders of African people in the U.S. and permanent wars against oppressed peoples of the world, targeting the ruling class, banks and corporations for reparations; and the failure of “unlearning racism” to address the core problem of colonialism.
