Gulfport kicked off spring with style on Saturday, March 26 with their annual Fun in the Sun event at the Gulfport Recreation Center.
This is the 11th year in a row the event was held, with Stetson College of Law bringing in the sponsors and donations.
The event was a showcase for police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, a helicopter, a rock-climbing wall, and nearly every other vehicle that moves on land, air and sea, giving children and opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat.
The morning started with the annual Easter egg hunt, which featured 8,000 eggs, according to Rec Center staff. A swarm of children managed to picked up all the eggs in two-and-a-half minutes.
Free hot dogs and chips were also served. Nearly 600 people attended the event.
