Gulfport pulled out all the stops on Monday July 4 as the city celebrated the nation’s birthday with a parade, music, kids activities, and of course, fireworks.
The parade, held at 6 p.m., was one of the highlights of the day. Hundreds of people decked out in their July 4th finest lined Beach Drive and Shore Boulevard behind barricades to watch. Participants ranging from the city’s poet laureate and mullet king to neighborhood kids on their bikes, civic groups, politicians, local businesses and city employees strutted their stuff. A fireworks display at 9 p.m. capped the festivities.
