Several dozen Gulfport residents turned out May 22 and 23 to help refurbish the home of an elderly, long-time Gulfport resident in need of assistance to keep her home safe.

“We have the best team!” said Karen Love, one of the managers of the Gulfport Neighbors project, estimating that some 40 people put in 180-200 man hours over the two-day period. The volunteers removed old carpet, installed vinyl flooring in some areas, and washed window treatments and household items.
