Sgt. Thomas Woodman, who was called to the house at 5214 11th Ave. S. around 8 p.m. November 24, said the child “was whipped twice with a phone charger cord, leaving marks and welts.” The incident took place between 8 and 9 p.m. the previous evening, he said.
“It was determined there was child abuse and the mother was charged as such,” Woodman said. “She was arrested on Thanksgiving Day and transported to Pinellas County Jail.”
The child was left with her grandmother, he said.
The Gabber is withholding the name of the mother in order to protect the child’s identity.
