Despite December temperatures in the 80s, Holiday Hoopla in Gulfport’s Waterfront District on December 12 was a holiday hit by any standards. Sponsored by the Gulfport Merchants Association, the event featured art, crafts, food, live music and performances by local school bands, choral groups and dance troupes. Visitors strolled the decorated streets lined with vendors selling unique holiday gifts and food, seasonal music and roving performers dressed as Dickens characters.

The day ended with the 30th year of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club’s lighted boat parade, which began at the Gulfport Municipal Marina at approximately 6 p.m., and featured an impressive 27 entries, led by Jennifer and Don Rogers’s Sanity Clause.
