Hubbard’s Marina is turning every trip on the water into an investment in protecting it.
The Madeira Beach-based business has joined 1% for the planet, committing to donate at least 1% of its annual revenue to environmental partners. The global organization verifies those contributions annually, ensuring the funds support vetted, high-impact work.
“We believe business can be a force for good,” Tara Hubbard, head of business development and strategic partnerships, said in a media release. “We are building sustainability into the financial DNA of our company.”
Unlike traditional charitable giving, Hubbard’s Marina ties its commitment to revenue, not profit. That means the company contributes consistently, regardless of business fluctuations.

As a result, every purchase whether a fishing trip, ferry ride, or dolphin cruise now directly supports environmental solutions. For customers, a day on the water becomes a way to help protect it.
Company leaders say the move also strengthens the business. Hubbard’s Marina reports increased employee engagement, stronger customer loyalty, and clearer brand identity since joining the program. In a competitive tourism market, the certification signals accountability and purpose.
The decision also aligns with Hubbard’s daily operations, which rely on the health of local waterways. By linking revenue to environmental impact, the company positions itself as both a tourism provider and a stakeholder in the region’s long-term ecological health.
Hubbard’s Marina plans to continue expanding its offerings, including a future ferry service connecting downtown St. Petersburg and downtown Tampa, while maintaining its environmental commitments.
