Sixty Arrested in Outstanding Warrant Sweep
The Gulfport Police Department recently participated in a county-wide intended to reduce the amount of outstanding warrants in Pinellas County.
“Operation Sweep,” March 3 through March 16, involved many Pinellas County agencies, including the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Indian Shores Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department, Treasure Island Police Department, FDOC, FDLE, FBI and the United States Marshal Service. The sweep targeted 665 individuals with felony warrants.
According to Detective Sergeant Thomas Woodman of the Gulfport Police Department, several Gulfport detectives were part of the teams that made arrests during the sweep.
A total of 60 suspects were arrested on approximately 71 warrant charges including felony battery, aggravated assault, battery on an elderly person, drug trafficking, drug possession, grand theft motor vehicle, welfare fraud, unemployment compensation fraud, food stamp fraud, to name a few.
