Making Way for the Wheels on the Bus

August 3, 2016 by Debbie Wolfe

“We’re widening the intersection’s turning lanes before school starts next week,” said Robert Creamer, foreman for Kilgore Construction of Largo who was driving a Bobcat on the south side of the intersection at 22nd Ave. S. and 52nd St. S. on the morning of Monday, August 1. It’s all about school buses being able to make easier and wider turns without having to navigate in narrow roads with curbs, he explained. Creamer was breaking up then removing existing road materials on the south side of the intersection. The north side has already been completed. This is the only intersection in Gulfport undergoing this kind of updating. The project is funded by the county and is part of the ongoing 22nd Avenue S. paving project.
