Two new historic markers will soon grace Gulfport. Two years ago the Historic Preservation Committee – a committee that, by law, exists to create criteria for and nominate properties for historic designation – began working on finding places to designate as historic. At Tuesday night’s council meeting, the Community Development Department presented two such markers: one for Osgood Park by the Clam Bayou kayak launch and another that will get installed near Tomlinson Park to commemorate “Rattlesnake Curve” where the northbound trolley made a sharp right turn to the east.
