On September 2, Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson proclaimed October “Gulfport History Month.”
“Gulfport’s elected officials are strongly committed,” to preserving Gulfport’s heritage, Henderson said shortly before presenting the proclamation to the board of the Gulfport Historical Society.
October events will include a “Then and Now” retrospective at the Catherine Hickman Theatre, a 5k Mullet Run and One Mile Doggie Dash past the 2013 Mullet King’s home, a daytime birthday celebration, the fundraising dinner “Gulfport Under the Stars,” and the November 1 campfire and ghost stories.
