Accepting the Ice Bucket Challenge issued by Jon Ziegler, Mayor Sam Henderson takes the plunge Saturday night. The Ice Bucket Challenge, intended to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease), has raised almost $80 million for ALS Association as of August 25.
Participants allow someone to dump a bucket of ice water over their head, and upload a video of the dumping to social media. They also donate $10 to the ALS Association. Those challenged may forego the dumping by donating $100 to the ALS Association.
After getting doused, the participant may challenge others. A very wet Henderson challenged Mike from Little Tommies Tiki, Gabber reporter Cathy Salustri, and his mother to take on the icy bucket. Salustri will take the challenge at GeckoFest this coming Saturday.
