New Interim District Two Commissioner

June 2, 2014 by The Gabber

For the summer, Rick Falkenstein will represent District Two on St. Pete Beach. Falkenstein, whose family owns the Hurricane in District Four, lives in District Two. The commission appointed Falkenstein to fill the seat vacated by Jim Parent, who stepped down without warning in April.

Falkenstein’s brother Bruno, a former commissioner, administered the oath of office on May 27 as their mother, Mary, and the commissioner-to-be’s two daughters and son stood beside him. After taking the oath, Falkenstein thanked his mother.

“If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be who I am today,” he said. He also thanked the residents and his family.

Falkenstein will hold this office until the regular election in March. He told the Gabber Tuesday night he intended to run in that election.
