Brittney Sherley and her husband Travis, both holding the scissors, were joined by Gulfport Merchant Chamber (GMC )board of directors members on Tuesday, November 12 to officially welcome A Friend Who Bakes to town at 2901 Beach Blvd., Unit 105. “Along with the ribbon cutting, we’re going to do a special cupcake something to make it a different experience,” said Brittney. “The first month of business has been amazing. We appreciate it so much. Travis and I want to say, ‘Thank you!’ I also want to thank Travis for being so supportive of this back-burner dream that I’ve had for such a long time. I knew if we were ever going to open up a brick-and-mortar it would need to be in the right place. And, Gulfport is the right place.” GMC President Barbara Banno, fourth from left, said, “She could have gone anywhere. But she waited and was patient to find the right location to be in this community because of her love and passion for baked goods and for everybody in Gulfport. I’m so thrilled that she is here.” Pictured from left are Mike Fagan; Kelly Lyn Wright, GMC treasurer; John Haugen, GMC secretary; Banno; Travis; Brittney; Brenda McMahon; and Scott Linde, GMC vice president.
