On a day where many celebrated with reds and pinks for Valentine’s day, St. Petersburg’s EDGE District (west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, east of 16th Street, between 1st Avenues North and South) took on Mardi Gras with a “Purple Reigns” theme. Dozens of locals and visitors of all ages joined co-owners Rick and Lisa Parsons for the Second Line Parade along Central Avenue to mark the third anniversary of Ricky P’s Orleans Bistro.
“We combine two special events and have a big party with 300 of our closets friends,” said Lisa Parsons. Also leading the line were the Gumbo Boogie Band and Leslie Curran, the current president the EDGE Business District Association. Purple balloons marked businesses who also participated in the festivities with drink specials, store discounts and live music.
