23-year-old John Reynolds was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

A beautiful sunny day turned dark Tuesday, April 19 after a road rage incident left a local man with two stab wounds to his torso.

The incident occurred at the convenience store located at 1418 58th St. S. in Gulfport. According to police, 23-year-old John Reynolds followed another man after he allegedly cut him off in traffic further north on 58th Street.

Inside the store, Reynolds allegedly confronted the victim and taunted him while he was trying to purchase his items at the register. The taunting turned into a scuffle outside.

That is when officials say Reynolds pulled a knife and stabbed the victim twice.

Reports say Reynolds returned to the man and continued to taunt him before walking back to his truck, pumping gas and then leaving the scene.

Police arrived at the convenience store where they received a detailed description of Reynolds’ truck, which was found only two hours later on near 13th Avenue by authorities.

The truck’s license plate was registered to Reynold’s home address one block away, which is where police found him and arrested him without incident.

Reynolds was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and currently is awaiting trial on $20,000 bond.

This isn’t Reynolds’ first run-in with the law. According to police records, Reynolds was arrested in 2012 for carrying a concealed firearm. He bonded out with $5,000.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was reportedly in stable condition.
