Santa Comes to South Pasadena

December 14, 2016 by Helen J. Simon

Santa Claus, aka Ken Dainty, chats with South Pasadena City Clerk Carley Lewis, left, and Mayor Max V. Elson during the city’s holiday open house at the municipal building on Friday December 9. The three were discussing an incident in North Carolina in which a man playing Santa upset a 9-year-old boy by making a reference to his weight. “Our Santa doesn’t do that,” Lewis said. “Our Santa is beloved.”

Jovie Lewis, 3, has her Christmas bear Frank give Santa, aka Ken Dainty, a high five during the city of South Pasadena’s holiday open house on Friday December 9. Residents enjoyed refreshments at the municipal building and then walked over to Galatea Garden to listen to holiday music performed by students from Pasadena Fundamental Elementary.
