On December 1, Santa Claus returned to Gulfport. Since it doesn’t snow in Gulfport, he stashed his sleigh at a local garage and arrived instead courtesy of his 1925 LaFrance fire engine. Santa loans the LaFrance to the Gulfport Fire Department for the rest of the year, but does ride it when he comes to town.
Gulfport Recreation’s Tot Time gave its annual holiday concert, with a few of the tots helping Mayor Sam Henderson light the southern red cedar in Clymer Park. Gulfport remains one of the few Pinellas towns with a living Christmas tree.
