Looking for that perfect holiday gift for the lit lover in your life? Then look no further than the St. Pete Beach Library’s auction gift baskets, created by Ron Waters, a volunteer and board member of the Circle of Friends of the St. Pete Beach Library. Twelve baskets, ranging in diverse themes such as Florida Authors, Cats, Women’s Large Print Mysteries, Dogs, WWII, Passover and more are available through the silent auction with four “buy it now” baskets on hand.
“We choose basket themes based on books that have been donated through publishers, the Tampa Bay Times or private donors that are in pristine condition,” says Waters, who has created the baskets for the past four years. “You might find a book signed by the author but you won’t find one signed by Grandma.”
Each decorated basket typically contains six to eight books and related items selected by Waters, such as Norwegian flags in the Jo Nesbo basket and wine-related goodies in the Wine basket.
Bids are still being taken at the library, and the drawing will be held on December 2. All proceeds go to the Circle of Friends of the St. Pete Beach Library for library programs, supplies and equipment.
