On Saturday, February 7, tryouts wrapped up for Gulfport Little League, and the Gabber caught up with some of the young ballplayers to get their perspective on life in the batter’s box.
Katelyn Latragna, who was the only girl on her age group’s all- star team, said being on the field with all boys was “really cool because I didn’t have to deal with any drama, except for my own drama.” She added that it’s “especially fun when your dad’s the coach.”
Jerimiah Garcia, who played in the Little League state championship last year, said teamwork was the key to his team’s state championship run: “You just gotta’ work together.”
Gulfport Little League parade and opening day is Saturday, March 7 starting at 10 a.m. You can still register online at Gulfportlittleleague.net or at the field Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. at Lum Atkinson Field at 1820 55th St. S.
