A PedalPub in St. Petersburg doubled as a moving canvas as artists painted a mural onto one of the multi-passenger bikes.
Astronaut and artist Nicole Stott joined artists Cora Rodriguez and Tricia Sham to turn a PedalPub into a rolling piece of public art. The live painting drew onlookers to the PedalPub Hub on 3rd Avenue South. Visitors watched the mural take shape and met the artists.
PedalPub St. Pete, owned by Eric Olson, operates “the original party bike,” offering rides through the city’s mural-lined streets. Rides are booked for birthdays, bachelorette parties and group outings, with stops at local bars.
The newly painted PedalPub is circulating through St. Petersburg, bringing the mural into neighborhoods as a mobile public art piece.
The painting was funded through donations, with remaining funds given to Creative Pinellas, which recently lost county funding.
