Before leaving the complex, mother and daughter also bought two plates of cookies, cakes and brownies the Lancaster residents were selling to raise money for the maintenance of their building.
The city-wide sale happens twice a year, giving residents a day to set up their yard sale without a permit, and to put their address in the yard sale brochure available in several municipal buildings, as well as printed for free in the Gabber. This year over one hundred residences participated in the event.

While selling their wares at various tables set up on the carport, residents also took the opportunity to socialize and get to know each other. “This is how condo members get together,” said resident Marion Bishop, center, with her husband Peter, right, and Jean Yves Rioux, left. Along with the usual yard sale fare, the Lancaster residents were selling cookies, brownies and cake – on the table behind them – to raise money for the maintenance of their building.
