Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum
South St. Petersburg, an area coined “The Deuces” has been a site of crime and abandoned business for years. Today, community members and an organization committed to its revamp (Deuces Rising) are working to bring the community back to 22nd Street.
The Woodson African American Museum of Florida partnered with Pinellas Community Foundation to raise $27 million for a new 29,000-square-foot facility.
