Council voted 3-2 to give itself a pay raise, the first since 2017. Gulfport’s mayor currently makes $14,400 per year, while council members bring home $10,800 annually.
At its Feb. 1 meeting, Gulfport Council said it would not change its noise ordinance. It also declined to move forward with a proposal by Vice Mayor April Thanos to remove “residents only no parking signs” on some Gulfport streets.

Because no one but the incumbents filed papers to run for Gulfport City Council, the city will not have elections in 2022.
Gulfport’s local election is in March of 2022, and the qualifying period for mayoral and Ward I and III candidates is from Dec. 6 through Dec. 13.
