Police Ask for Help Stopping Gulfport Car Thefts
Gulfport car thefts continue, and police ask people to lock their cars and not leave keys in the car. Gulfport’s had 33 stolen cars in 2023.
Most recent Pinellas Florida crime activity, including public safety initiatives as well as relevant crimes. With a few exceptions, The Gabber Newspaper only reports on crimes where there's a clear danger to the community, if law enforcement has asked the community for assistance, or if the crime is notable and our editorial team intends to follow the story to its conclusion.
When the current owners purchased The Gabber Newspaper in 2020, they made many changes. In October 2020, they changed policies on how The Gabber Newspaper handles Pinellas Florida crime reporting. Take a look at why we made that change. The Gabber Newspaper no longer prints crime blotters. In most cases, we will not indicate race of a suspect unless the police issue a "be on the lookout" (BOLO) or the crime is race-related. Anyone with concerns about how we report crime should reach out to our publisher at cathy@thegabber.com.
The Gabber Newspaper reminds readers they can see crime reports for their community at the Crime Viewer website, provided by Pinellas County. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office also has a website for active calls. In addition, most community police departments have resources available for people who want more information.
