A 13-year-old boy was shot in his left buttock and right leg, according to police.
Within an hour, St. Petersburg first responders answered calls for a shooting and fire. The incidents took place mere blocks apart Sunday afternoon.
St. Petersburg police believe they’ve found the man who shot two men on the street earlier this month. The suspect is currently in jail in Hillsborough County for several unrelated charges.
The St. Petersburg Police Department said it worked with the FBI and Tampa Police Department on locating and detaining the person of interest, who they believe may be responsible for two shootings.
The suspect allegedly shot a police officer, then hijacked a car. It took three agencies to apprehend him.
The man was found near 29th Street South and 17th Avenue South near Interstate 275.
According to FHP, “Slaughter heard a ‘popping’ noise and suddenly felt glass strike her before noticing facial injuries suffered by Jordan who had been shot. While continuing to drive, Jordan instructed Slaughter to photograph or record the suspect vehicle with her phone which she was unable to do as the lock screen was covered in blood.”
Someone shot two teenage boys in St. Petersburg’s Childs Park neighborhood. Police continue to investigate but have not yet made any arrests.
St. Petersburg police say the Jan. 17 shooting happened at approximately 6:40 a.m.
A task force headed by the Sheriff’s Office also released body camera footage of the shooting Wednesday.
Two of the shootings occurred on Thursday, Dec. 30 and the fatal shooting happened Wednesday, Dec. 29, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Police discovered a man fatally shot Dec. 29 in St. Petersburg. At 9:33 a.m., St. Petersburg police received a call regarding a shooting near 21st Street South and 17th Avenue South.
