St. Petersburg Mayor Welch said Wednesday, Aug. 23, he was reinstating Fire Chief James Large after conducting the review and personal interviews with current and retired firefighters and other city staff regarding diversity and inclusion complaints.

The City of St. Pete put St. Pete Fire Rescue Chief James Large on “paid administrative leave” after anonymous complaints about his behavior.
GFR provided water supplies and served as the rapid intervention team, according to Fire Captain Jim Lundh.
