St. Pete Goes Back to Drawing Board for Tropicana Field
Tropicana Field, formerly predominantly Black St. Petersburg homes and businesses, was once known as the Gas Plant District. Mayor Ken Welch says he’s going to take his time on redeveloping the area. His family once lived in the Gas Plant area, before the City turned it into a stadium.
