Do you know the name of the dog in the TV show “I Dream of Jeanie”? Or what year Babe Ruth hit his record-setting home run? Then you might be ready to join Lydia the Encyclopedia at Boca Bay Grille on Tuesday evenings where she hosts team trivia at 7p.m.
Lydia the Encyclopedia, as she prefers to be known, holds a masters in education and was a teacher at Gulfport Elementary.
And if that’s not enough, “I’m the daughter of a rocket scientist,” Lydia says.
Now Lydia’s sharing knowledge in a different setting. For the past six months, Lydia has been hosting trivia, but she has been playing for five years, and says she knows all the tricks. Be sure to keep your cell phones at home. There will be no cheating under her watch.
“Just like the nuns used to hit kids knuckles with the ruler,” Lydia jokes, “I have occasionally brandished my ruler to people that were using their cell phones.”
Trivia with Lydia is not just your average bar trivia, however. Lydia’s questions often have a distinctly Gulfport flair. Make sure to brush up on your Gulfport history or take a look at the latest edition of the Gabber because you can bet a question or two will be coming out of it.
The top three teams are listed on the Braggin’ Board, which shows winners from previous weeks. But there’s more than just bragging rights for some: The smartest team gets a $25 gift card to Boca Bay Grille. For the rest of the teams, well, better luck next time.
