Tony D’s Sub Shop, a self-described “old-school” Italian sandwich shop, has opened at 217 Central Ave. in downtown St. Petersburg. The restaurant serves hot and cold subs made from scratch.
Tony D’s Sub Shop is the latest concept from Ohio-based Forward Hospitality Group. The company also owns the neighboring Glamper bar and restaurant, along with Good Night John Boy, Welcome to the Farm, and My Rich Uncle.

The menu pays tribute to the owners’ family and their grandfather, Tony Deliberato. Each sandwich takes its name from a person or place meaningful to the family’s history.
“Inspired by corner delis and Italian family kitchens, Tony D’s focuses on simple, honest sandwiches built with intention & care,” the website states.
Among the specialty offerings is the Civita Luparella. It includes mortadella, Italian ham, fresh arugula, pistachio pesto, creamy burrata, salt and pepper, sauce, and balsamic glaze.
