Treasure Island commissioners pushed back a planned Treasure Bay workshop during their Sept. 15 meeting, moving it from Oct. 6 to Dec. 1 to allow the City more time to gather financial information and work through potential design options.
Money already set aside for Treasure Bay design work was part of the discussion.
There was some concern about authorizing additional design spending before commissioners have reviewed what the city already has.

That’s not all that happened at the Sept. 15 Treasure Island Commission meeting. Read about City Attorney requests, a lower rollback tax rate, a Public Safety building, Thunderbird redevelopment, and several local concerns.
Commissioner Questions Additional Design Spending
District 4 Commissioner Arden Dickey questioned whether the City should spend approximately $180,000 on another design.
“Let’s just not start from scratch on the design,” Dickey said. “Let’s work with what we got first before we spend more money.”
Vice Mayor Tammy Vasquez also asked staff to provide golf course revenue and expense information going back to 2017.
She wants the golf figures separated from tennis, foot golf, and the property’s other activities so commissioners can get a clearer picture of the course’s financial history.
The next Treasure Island Commission meeting is Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.
