Wet Tails Still Wagging

March 6, 2015 by Helen J. Simon

 Julie Fehr and Karen Samways
Karen Samways, right, holds red-and-white two- year-old beagle Gracie, while Julie Fehr adjusts the shivering pup’s blanket at Saturday’s Get Rescued. The two women, who work with Tampa Bay Beagles, brought several beagles to the event. Of Gracie, Fehr said, “We’ll find her the right home.”

Despite pouring rain all day Saturday, February 28, organizers of Gulfport’s 11th annual Get Rescued dubbed the event a great success. Get Rescued brought together several dozen small pet-rescue groups, Gulfport merchants and members of the public to raise money and supplies for domestic animals in need of new homes.

“They did very well,” said Lynda Shehan, one of the main organizers. “The event was beautiful, just as it always is.”
