Winter Break for Science

Jeff Grau, a teacher at the Science Center of Pinellas at 7701 22nd Ave N. in St. Petersburg, helps students at the winter break science camp with an experiment to find magnetic north.

“You magnetize the needle, put it in a little piece of cork and float it in water: It will point to magnetic north,” he told camp participants Tuesday, December 22.

Chimed in Ronald Causby of Seminole, center: “Never eat soggy waffles. It helps you remember north/east/south/west.”

Added Isabella Quinn of Seminole, far right: “That’s also very good advice. Soggy waffles are horrible.”
