Women’s Club Honored for Work, Land Donation

April 16, 2015 by Helen J. Simon

The city of St. Petersburg on Tuesday officially marked the donation of the former site of the Pasadena Women’s Clubhouse at what is now Sunset Park, at Park Street and Central Avenue, with a plaque honoring the group’s contributions to the community during its 92 years in existence. In the face of dwindling membership, the club “sold” the building and land to the city last April for $500 and the building was promptly removed. St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, who said he grew up nearby and always admired the view from the site, told club members, “You all have made a gift that will last for generations.”
