Author Jess Walter, the Keynote Speaker at Writers in Paradise, hands Tanya Coovadia a signed copy of his best-selling novel, “Beautiful Ruins.” Now in its 11th year, the writing conference is being held January 17 through 25 at Eckerd College with nightly readings and book signings open to the public. Other authors scheduled to appear include Laura Lippman, Ann Hood, Andre Dubus III and Jacquelyn Mitchard, whose novel “The Deep End of the Ocean,” was the first selection of Oprah’s Book Club.
