After 16 months of repairs following major hurricane damage, Hurricane Eddie’s in Gulfport has reopened.
The waterfront bar at 5413 Shore Blvd. S. closed after Hurricanes Helene and Milton struck the area in September 2024. In a Facebook post at the time, the owners described the emotional toll of the storms.
“There are just no words to describe the feeling in the pit of our stomachs and in our hearts,” they wrote.
During the rebuilding, Hurricane Eddie’s hosted several fundraisers, including T-shirt sales with proceeds going to employees.
In March 2025, the business welcomed customers back with a St. Patrick’s Day celebration on the patio. Throughout the following months, Hurricane Eddie’s kept music playing and drinks flowing outdoors while crews continued work inside.
The business celebrated its grand reopening on March 12 and thanked the community for its support during the long rebuilding process.
Hurricane Eddie’s also operates a sister location, Eddie’s Bay Pines, at 9685 Bay Pines Blvd. in St. Petersburg.
