A dessert concept that began with a pile of melted cheesecake won this year’s inaugural Brick Pitch competition.
Joseph “J” Jackson, founder of Eat This Dessert First, won the top prize, which included $7,500. The Greenhouse presented Brick Pitch Night and hosted by the St. Pete Opera in early March.
Eat This Dessert First
Eat This Dessert First features jar-filled cheesecakes, cannolis and other desserts, along with ice cream and specialty coffees. The business operated as a mobile vendor before opening a storefront presence in October. They are now inside Sunshine City Popcorn at 2533 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District. The company continues to sell at markets and festivals while working toward a goal of opening its own standalone dessert cafe.
“We are humbled and grateful for the honor to be selected as the first Brick Pitch winner,” the business wrote on Facebook.
Judges included Reuben Pressman, St. Pete Athletic; Tricia Johnson, Regions Bank; Evan Brownstein, St. Pete Distillery; and Brooke Beeler, Thrive DTSP. Regions Bank was the main event sponsor.
