Notes from the September Kenneth City Town Council Meeting
Aside from big-ticket items like the budget, new town manager, and whether or not to hire a lobbyist, the Kenneth City Town Council had a full agenda for its Sept. 11 meeting.
Kenneth City Parks and Pickleball
- Staff is getting bids to make park repairs and upgrades, Michael Vieno said. The Town will use ARPA funds to pay for this.
- Pickleball and basketball courts in Ernst Park will now remain open until 9 p.m. From ordinance 003-2024: “All playgrounds, parks or areas so designated as playgrounds or parks within the incorporated limits of the town shall be closed at dusk and opened at dawn.”

Stormwater and Fire
- At the September Kenneth City Town Council meeting, the Council members passed a stormwater assessment rate resolution. The assessment applies to fiscal year 2024-25 . The Stormwater Assessment Roll includes certain properties in Kenneth City. Costs will not increase for these properties. Kenneth City has water, stormwater, and fire assessments every year. The Town will base the charges will on an Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU). The ERU rate is $110.82. Property owners will pay this with their ad valorem taxes. An ERU refers to the amount of land on a property that cannot absorb water into the ground.
- The Council also passed an assessment — that’s a cost to property owners — for fire services. This assessment, for “fire protection services, facilities, and programs,” according to the resolution, will cost homeowners $106; non-residential property owners will pay $0.25 per square foot.
From Kenneth City to Pass-a-Grille, we’re the calm during the storm.
