Peas & Love received a community grant through the City of St. Petersburg’s MLK Communities in Action Mini-Grant program. The funding will make it possible to install edible gardens at three St. Petersburg homes at no cost to residents.
Peas & Love
Desiree’ Sims, a third-generation Tampa Bay resident with deep family ties to farming and gardening, founded the organization. Sims brings more than 15 years of organic growing experience in the Tampa Bay area. She has spent years helping people grow their own food through garden design, installation, and education.
Her work focuses on building sustainable, productive gardens that provide fresh, homegrown food season after season. Sims, who grew up experiencing food insecurity, says even a small home garden can be life-changing.
